Q: Should I buy new or used rustic furniture?
A:
This is totally up to you. Old rustic furniture is generally not
considered “antique” furniture, and is therefore not
too terribly expensive. You can find rustic furniture that is the
same price or even less expensive than newer rustic furniture. The
beauty of old rustic furniture is that it is genuine – the
scuffs and dents and dings in it are all natural. Newer rustic furniture,
on the other hand, is made to look like it has natural aging and
dents – and you are paying for this extra processing. Of course,
one benefit of newer rustic furniture is that it generally as the
same classic look as the older furniture does, but the cabinet doors
are not going to stick, the drawers are going to slide out more
easily, etc.
