Rustic Furniture Frequently Asked Questions
Q:
Is it bad to have log furniture with cracks in it? Will the cracks
cause a structural problem?
The cracks are caused by the cellular structure of the log contracting
as it dries – this is called “checking.”
Q:
How do I care for my pine furniture?
Try to keep the humidity and temperature steady around your pine
furniture.
Q:
What kind of flooring matches rustic décor the best? Can I still
decorate with rustic décor if my home is carpeted?
Place braided rugs (or rag rugs or even needlepoint rugs) on top
of your carpet (placing a twin grip pad in between).
Q:
Does rustic barn wood furniture actually come from barns, or does
it just look like it does?
Realize, also, that barn wood furniture may become less and less
common as barns are disappearing from the country landscape and
are not being replaced.
Q:
Should I buy new or used rustic furniture?
Old rustic furniture is generally not considered “antique”
furniture, and is therefore not too terribly expensive.
